The Swedish Museum of Natural History, one of the leading institutions of its kind in Europe, combines unique collections with cutting-edge research in geology, paleontology and biology.

The Geosciences department at NRM is host to the NordSIMS-Vegacenter research infrastructure, a Swedish national resource for microanalysis and micro-imaging that comprises a ranges of state-of-the-art analytical and support facilities.

WORK TASKS
Applications are invited to a 2-year postdoctoral research position related to a Swedish Research Council funded project Meteorite bombardment of the inner solar system a lunar perspective. The purpose of this project is to extract, characterise and date impact-related components of the lunar regolith that have been generated or delivered during continuous meteorite impacts over 4.5 billion years. This research will be conducted using lunar regolith samples returned by the Apollo, Luna and Change-5 missions and will utilise novel and innovative high-spatial resolution ion microprobe-based methods, using the CAMECA ims1280 instrument in the NordSIMS facility at the Swedish Museum of Natural History.

QUALIFICATIONS
A PhD. in geochemistry or cosmochemistry is required. It is considered advantageous if the doctoral degree is no older than three years at application deadline. Previous experience with SIMS and U-Pb geochronological studies is an advantage.
