R&D Manager

Arbetsbeskrivning

Sandvik Coromant Research and Development in Västberga, Stockholm works with development of hard materials for metal cutting. Operations cover a broad spectrum, from modeling and materials production to evaluation and installation. The materials laboratory has processing equipment for production of test materials on both lab and pilot study scales, as well as advanced equipment for testing and analysis. Our strength lies in both our broad and cutting-edge knowledge within our field, and our extensive international network of contacts. The department in question develops powder compaction processes, takes an active part in product development and has R&D experts, engineers and technicians from different backgrounds.

We are now looking for an R&D Manager who is interested in both technology and development of individuals. We offer an opportunity to join the world leader within metal cutting, and work in perhaps the most advanced metal cutting R&D center in Sweden.

Key performance areas
As R&D Manager you will have responsibility for the technical development work, together with the department experts, engineers and technicians, as well as the competence development of the personnel. Additionally, you will participate in the department's main management team, where you contribute to the operational development. As we work in an international environment, collaborating with universities, external suppliers, various parts of Sandvik and our customers, there will be a large number of international contacts.

You will also:
- Have overall responsibility for the department's work, including HR, goals, finances, investments, quality-assurance, safety and the environment
- Represent the organization in steering committees and decision-making meetings
- Secure competence and resources in your area of responsibility through Management by Objectives
- Develop and offer competency platforms based on Group-wide knowledge
- Identify and build networks with internal and external stakeholders in the field (both industrial and academic)

The position may involve some traveling and regular presence in our production unit in Gimo.

Your profile
We are looking for someone with a Master's in Materials Science or Engineering, with focus on either materials technology or mechanical engineering, and a few years' experience of project management or people management. Work experience from powder forming processes, metal cutting or product development is advantageous. You have good skills in English and Swedish, both in writing and speaking.

We place great value on your personal qualities in this recruitment: you are a natural leader who is communicative and a relationship builder. Furthermore, you are organized, able to maintain an overall perspective, performance oriented with a delivery focus and have the required technical expertise for this position.

We actively work to create a workplace that is characterized by diversity and inclusion.
