Rector for Sankt Ignatios Orthodox Tewahedo Seminary

Sankt Ignatios Orthodox Tewahedo Seminary is a project for developing a permanent Tewahedo Seminary. The Seminary will provide spiritual support for the students at Sankt Ignatios Academy as well as Sankt Ignatios folkhögskola. Together with the other seminaries leadership training, priestly training and personal development, are conducted directly through the seminaries or through the folkhögskola or Sankt Ignatios Academy.

Major Responsibilities and Expectation
As a Rector you will supervise the priest candidates, candidates for marigeta, as well as the fresh men. Under your supervision you will also guide the students in zema and participate in the theological training at the folkhögskola. You will also take part and lead the development of the people’s education in parishes and at the seminaries. You will also take the responsibility for services at the seminary, and support the local parish in Stockholm.

The position is a temporary position and half time, for two years. If the Academy gains sufficient needs as planned, the position will be full time and permanent.



Master degree in theology, and competence as a marigeta in zema. The Academy uses English and Swedish as teaching languages, but for networking and research connections we use several languages. We already cover Arabic and Syriac,as well as Tigrinya, Greek and Russian, therefore we now need to cover Amharic . The position therefore requires very good verbal and written communication skills in English, and Amharic, as well as Ge’ez. If Swedish is not

Sankt Ignatios Theological Academy is a joint venture between Sankt Ignatios folkhögskola (college), Sankt Ignatios Academy and Sankt Ignatios Orthodox Seminaries. The aim is to support a new generation of ecclesiastical leaders and scholars within Eastern Christianity, as well as educating the people through parish education and seminary education. The Theological Academy is therefore both an Academic school as well as a school for People’s Education. The Board of the Foundation, which is the principal organization behind the Theological Academy, consists of the canonical bishops of the Eastern churches resident in Scandinavia.
