Within the section Process simulation and sustainability at RISE Bioeconomy we are now hiring an research associate in inorganic chemistry. Working within the RISE Bioeconomy division means an opportunity to contribute to the development towards a future circular bioeconomy. We work in close cooperation with industry and research actors all over the world. Together we generate and process research results and ideas based mainly on forest raw materials. It is a stimulating and developing environment with a good team spirit. The workplace is located on Drottning Kristinas väg, near KTH, in close proximity of both nature and the city.

Tasks

Your work area will include fundamental understanding of, and problem solving within, the field of inorganic chemistry, especially solubility aspects, pertaining to processes for production of pulp, green chemicals and biofuels. You will plan, execute and evaluate experiments and industrial projects. Your work will include projects of both scientific and industrial character, which implies a wide range of work tasks and a possibility of acquiring unique skills.

As our co-worker, you will be a part of a research team that designs and uses various tools for simulation, analysis and development of new processes mostly within the pulp and paper industry. Some examples of processes within our current work field include traditional pulp production, lignin separation, biorefinery and textile fibre production. Your competence will contribute to deeper understanding of the inorganic chemistry aspects of the studied processes and to converting this knowledge to useful models. You will work both with research projects and industrial customer assignments.

Qualifications

Master of science or doctorate in chemical engineering or chemistry, preferably specialised within inorganic chemistry, solution chemistry or process chemistry. Experience from the pulp and paper industry is not a requirement, but it is favourable.

Personal qualities

You are results-oriented, responsible, curious and good in cooperating with others. You have good communication skills and are capable of recognizing our customers' needs. Fluency in Swedish and English, both oral and written, is required.

Other

The position is a permanent employment starting as soon as possible; a trial period can apply. Travel to customers in Sweden and abroad is included in the work.
