Information about the division/the project
The Department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience - MC2 is a unique research department in micro- and nanotechnology, housing more than 250 researchers and PhD students. At the terahertz and millimetre wave division, the main research activities are on technologies with applications ranging from basic science to future wireless sensors and communication systems. We are at the forefront of innovation in terahertz electronics, working on projects that push the boundaries of what is possible, aiming for the next generation of wireless systems, remote sensing and space terahertz instrumentation. We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Research Engineer to join our team and contribute to our exciting research in microwave and terahertz electronics.

Job description
As a Research Engineer in Terahertz Electronics, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and advancing electronic device fabrication in our state-of-the-art Nanofabrication facility at MC2. You will work closely with a team of researchers and engineers to drive innovation in this rapidly evolving field.

Main Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and development activities in the fabrication of terahertz electronics.
- Design, optimise, and fabricate terahertz electronic devices and circuits.
- Reliability investigation and space qualification of terahertz components.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in terahertz technology and contribute to research publications.
- Participate in the training of PhD students.
- Participate in project planning, execution, and reporting.

Contract terms
Permanent full-time employment.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must have a master's or PhD in Engineering Physics (F) or Electrical Engineering (E) with a curriculum that provides a solid foundation in microelectronics and semiconductor technology. Experience in cleanroom fabrication processes is essential.
You should have good communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively in a research team, good analytical and experimental skills and an excellent ability to work independently towards the goals expressed in the project plans.

Furthermore, as the position is a collaboration between research groups and industry, you must enjoy working in different environments and proactively participate in new research initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in nanolithography and in fabricating advanced semiconductor components.
- Familiarity with semiconductor device characterisation.

- Publications in peer-reviewed journals or conference proceedings.
