AkzoNobel Surface Chemistry is strengthening their Mining team by recruiting a Research Engineer in Mining to their Research, Development and Innovation (RD&I) center in Stenungsund, Sweden.

The Global Mining team within AkzoNobel Surface Chemistry provides chemical expertise, process technology, and application know-how to solve problems for customers in the mining industry, mainly focused on colloid and surface chemistry and its application to mineral flotation. As a Research Engineer in the Mining team you will combine your knowledge within process industry and mining with a strong customer and business focus. You will provide technical knowledge by supporting customers together with sales, lead customer focused development projects, support trials at customers and perform laboratory work in mining projects. The main responsibilities include:

• Continue building knowledge in areas of Mineralogy and Process Technology in the Global Mining R&DI team.
• Providing global support to Global Mining Sales & Marketing in areas of Mineral processing and Process technology.
• Perform laboratory work in mining projects, and act as a guide in area of Mineral processing and Process technology
• Lead customer focused development projects in close collaboration with customers and Sales & Marketing.
• Support trials at customers
• Coordinate RD&I work performed in-house AkzoNobel to be in line with customer expectations.
• Contribute to establishing and maintaining external networks with senior researchers within universities and industry.
We also believe that you will actively contribute to the safety and order in the lab and have a strong focus on the Health, Safety and Environment questions. The position requires occasional travelling to visit customers and collaborators.

Qualification:

We are looking for an individual with a MSc in Chemical Engineering or similar with knowledge in the area of mining, ores, mineralogy and process technology. You have at least 5 years of industrial experience, preferably from the mining industry. Good project management skills are required and previous experience of flotation is advantageous but not required.

As a person you focus on results in a business oriented manner and you enjoy working with customers. You are proactive; able to prioritize and enjoy working towards continues improvements. Excellent interpersonal-, communication-, and presentation skills are required as well as excellent English, both written and spoken. Additional language knowledge is advantageous. Personal skills will be emphasized in the selection process.
