Research Engineer with responsibility for thermodynamical modelling Sandvik Materials Technology (SMT) is a business area within the Sandvik Group and a leading world manufacturer of high-value-added products in stainless steel materials, special alloys, metallic and ceramic resistance materials and process systems.Product areas comprise Tube, Strip, Wire and Heating Technology, Process Systems and MedTech.The Physical Metallurgy (SFCF) Unit is a central resource within SMT's R&D (research and development) organisation specialised in advanced materials analysis and consultations within the field of physical metallurgy.Employees at SFCF are primarily active within product and process development and strategic research.Now we are looking for a research engineer specialised in the advanced use of thermodynamical modelling.The position is located in Sandviken and includes full responsibility for the strategically vital and growing area of thermodynamical modelling at the SMT R&D Centre.Key performance areas The primary working tasks of this research engineer include: - Responsibility for the use of thermodynamical modelling within SMT product and process development and long-term knowledge development in this field.- Participating in development projects and carrying out various assignments through the advanced use of thermodynamical modelling - Utilising thermodynamical modelling to support the characterisation of the microstructure of metallic materials - Acting as adviser to a number of users at the SMT R&D Centre of the Thermo-Calc and Dictra software programs - Developing calculation tools and databases in cooperation with external actors Your profile You have a PhD within materials sciences or a neighbouring field.Extremely high levels of knowledge within thermodynamical modelling and practical experience of the area are a must.Excellent knowledge of the Thermo-Calc and Dictra software programs is also a requirement, as well as good levels of knowledge on the links between the microstructure and the properties of metallic materials.Practical experimental experience of the development of thermodynamic and kinetic data is a further advantage.Great emphasis is also placed on the ability to cooperate and communicate with others as the position will include collaboration with many internal and external contacts.Knowledge of the Swedish language is an advantage but not a requirement.
