Researcher In Photonic and Micro-Optical Design, Fabrication and Experiment(ation)

SenseAir AB invites applications for a Research position in the area of photonics, opto-electronics and related fields. We are seeking a talented and highly-motivated individual. Candidates must be creative and inventive, with broad knowledge in the physical sciences, top-notch laboratory research skills, and the drive required to excel in new technical fields. Successful candidate must have at least a Masters degree in the relevant discipline. Job Responsibilities

This position offers an unusual multidisciplinary research opportunity for Researchers with broad talents and interests. We are looking for a candidate with the following capabilities:

* Create new concepts and optical designs of SenseAir's NDIR gas sensors
* Contribute to R&D on microfabrication and packaging of new NDIR device product.
* Design and fabrication of micro-optics and IR waveguides
* Explore new materials and device designs via both simulation and experiment
* Characterization of optical components and micro-optical systems
* Theoretical understanding and optimization of classical and micro-optical systems design
* Optimize and carry out procedures for system integration, assembly, and test
* Identify and establish development partnerships with outside experts
* Stay current in new and emerging technologies in the field
* Mentor junior engineers and guide technicians in the build and test process

Qualifications/Requirements

* Relevant experience in the design, simulation, microfabrication, and characterization of novel optical devices is required.
* Strong background in fundamental optics and photonics
* Opto-CAD experience (preferably Zemax)
* 2+ years hands-on laboratory research experience in micro-optics
* Dynamic system design, modeling, analysis, and testing
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
* Willing to take on diverse and changing responsibilities within timelines
* Demonstrated capability in scientific writing and presenting skills.
* Excellent references

Subject area knowledge in any of the following is desired, but not essential

* LabVIEW, MatCAD programming
* Generic FEM simulation tools, such as ANSYS, COMSOL, and similar
* Photonic design tools, such as Lumerical, RSoft, Fimmwave
* Data collection, analysis, and presentation
* Micro fabrication
* Joining techniques and packaging in micro systems

The candidate must be confident in a highly dynamic and creative environment

Education:

* M.Sc or Ph. D. in optical or materials engineering, mechatronics, photonics, or engineering physics
* M.Sc or BS in optical, or materials engineering required, including hands-on laboratory research experience 2+ years
* With only Masters exam 7+ years of relevant experience preferred
