SEI is an independent, international research institute founded in 1989. Its mission is to support decision-making and induce change towards sustainable development around the world by providing integrative knowledge that bridges science and policy in the field of environment and development. In January 2013, SEI was ranked number six out of the world's top environment think tanks in the 2012 Global Go To Think Tank Report, compiled by the University of Pennsylvania's Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program.

SEI has about 180 staff members working at research centres in six countries around the world. Our centres are located in the United Kingdom (SEI-York and SEI-Oxford), the United States (SEI-USA in Boston with sub-units in Seattle and locations in California), in Estonia (SEI Tallinn Centre), in Bangkok, Thailand (SEI's Asia Centre) and in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (SEI's Africa Centre). SEI headquarters are located in Stockholm, Sweden, where we also have the Stockholm Centre with approximately 60 staff members.

Our Stockholm center is now expanding its programme in several areas of research and policy analysis. We need to strengthen our team in Stockholm with a few exceptional individuals, at levels ranging from junior associates to senior research fellows and mid-level and senior level project managers, interested in contributing to our core mission of bridging science and policy. We are looking for talented analysts who can take the lead in the implementation of new collaborative and multi-disciplinary international research and advisory projects on:

- The water-energy-food nexus at different scales
- Low carbon transitions, with a focus on energy systems and policy
- Climate change mitigation and adaptation
- Disaster risk reduction

We welcome expression of interest from candidates holding an advanced academic degree(s) in topics related to this broad work description and those with relevant work experience.

The work tasks will include:
- Leadership and implementation of international research projects
- Policy engagement in Sweden, EU and globally, including frequent overseas travel
- Development of new research and knowledge services internationally as part of a growing team in Stockholm
- Engagement with other SEI centres and partners around the world

Qualifications:
- Minimum an advanced academic degree in a relevant field, PhD preferred
- Excellent and demonstrated project management skills for the project management positions, for the research fellowships this is an advantage,
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop and apply interdisciplinary methods
- Willingness to travel
- Fluency in written and spoken English, other languages is an advantage
