Systems Responsible Leader

The section Strategy and Concept within the department Powertrain Controls and Calibration, PCC, is responsible for developing concepts and system solutions for propulsion systems including hybrid systems in Volvo Car Group vehicles. The section consists of about 25 individuals working with systems engineering, concept development, advanced engineering projects and CAE simulations. We are working with SIL-/HIL-environments for CAE simulations.

As System Responsible Leader main task is to lead technical cross functional system solutions within PCC during the concept development phase. Example of System Development projects is development of a control system for next generation VEA engines including new features like Powerpulse, Smart CO2, KERS and other alternative Hybrid solutions. The system developer operates as a leader and leads the system solutions across necessary departments and in cooperation with other units.

Main responsibilities

* To develop and deliver planned system solutions within PCC, in line with the business goals 2020, and thereby strengthen Volvo Car Corporations' competitiveness
* Challenge the organisation and existing technology solutions
* Sourcing of new systems when applicable
* Continuously drive and report progress as well as escalate issues when applicable

Required qualifications

* Master of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Applied Physics, Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent
* 5-10 years of experience from mechatronic (preferably powertrain) development tasks
* Experience from all product development phases, advanced engineering, concept, industrialisation, quality, aftermarket
* Knowledge of energy consumption for propelling a vehicle
* Experience and good understanding of systems engineering
* Preferably good knowledge of powertrain, powertrain controls, engine, transmission, hybrid, powertrain installations is meritorious
* Preferably good knowledge of the energy processes in combustion engines and hybrid powertrains is meritorious
* English, written and spoken
* Drivers licence, B

* Capable of focusing on both daily issues and long term visions
* Have the ability to work independent but also enjoy being a part of the development team
