SCM Ventures is a Stockholm based subsidiary of Schibsted Classified Media, Schibsted Media Group and we work closely with Blocket.se. SCM Ventures' mission is to export products and concepts in the Schibsted portfolio, such as Blocket.se, to new countries. Today we cover markets in Europe, Africa, Asia and South America. The team consists of a number of high performing individuals, majority foreign nationals. We're passionate about what we do which means we love coming to work every day. You are a passionate developer who wants to take on a new challenge in a fast moving, fun loving team where you're given a lot of responsibility and an opportunity to affect the outcome of the success of a very exciting project.

 

You are a great coder who isn't foreign to learning new languages and technologies. You understand recursion, pointers, cache invalidation and regular expressions. We work mostly in an in-house template language, C and PHP but we're open to new ideas if you motivate them. You have both interest and experience in building scalable systems while keeping security a high priority. We work with Linux and it's a big plus if you have previous experience of Open Source development. You've previously worked with SQL databases, key-value stores such as Redis and aren't afraid of basic Linux system administration.

 

You probably studied programming at university level, or maybe you acquired the same knowledge through your own research and practical work. Your work has been focused on developing for web based environments. You're not afraid of breaking things as you know how to fix them and you probably learned something from it. You have definitely been running your own projects outside of your day job/school (because it's just so damn fun!).

 

As a person, you're like us: Open minded, easy going, efficient, social, passionate and hands-on. At SCM Ventures, we spend our days working together and our nights hanging out. We love that we work in an international team as we get to go visit our sister companies all around the world, attend internal summits and external conferences. Our working language is English (even though we try to practise our Swedish on Tuesdays…).
