SCM Ventures is a Stockholm based subsidiary of Schibsted Classified Media, Schibsted Media Group and we work closely with Blocket.se. SCM Ventures' mission is to export products and concepts in the Schibsted portfolio, such as Blocket.se, to new countries. Today we cover markets in Europe, Africa, Asia and South America. The team consists of a number of high performing individuals, majority foreign nationals. We're passionate about what we do which means we love coming to work every day. About you

• You understand the differences between progressive enhancement and graceful degradation and know when to choose which.
• You know HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• You have a firm understanding of templating.
• You are comfortable navigating around in the console shell.
• You live and breathe by your editor and VCS.
• You know how to make user interface components usable.
• You understand how to, and love to be creative, in developing for different platforms (screen sizes, browser and device capabilities) and low performing technical environments (network speed, hardware).
• You love working in a fast moving business environment.
• You are great at managing your own projects.
• You are fluent in English

Additional qualifications

• You contribute to open source projects in your spare time.
• You know how to use Photoshop.
• You've worked with continuous delivery.
• You have an understanding for Unix Server management.

What you will be working on

• You will be part of a team that launches our existing product portfolio in new markets and also create totally new product ventures as new opportunities surface.
• Crafting stellar user experiences that elegantly balance user and business needs.
• Working with product managers and local contacts to learn about our users and validate designs.
• Collaborating with designers, engineers and QA to deliver a quality product.
• Evangelizing user needs and design rationale for features.
• Advocating for and delivering code excellence in everything we make.
• Optimizing frontend web performance with asset preloading, cutting old code and making sure all assets are served as small and smart as possible.
• You will be part of our On Call rotation scheme and where the team is responsible for the uptime and operations of our sites.
