Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) is a foundation with a global mission of safer use of medicines. Based in Uppsala, Sweden, UMC works on behalf of the World Health Organization (WHO) to collect and analyse international patient data with the aim of identifying and explaining problems related to medicines and their use. UMC is a world leader in scientific development in medicines safety monitoring, and provides capacity building in WHO member countries. Our products and services are used by health authorities and companies in the life science sector in more than 100 countries. UMC currently has approximately 100 employees.



As Section Manager you will lead, develop and coordinate the Sales and Customer Relations section. The position has a global focus and requires taking an active part in creating sales opportunities as well as building and maintaining fruitful customer and vendor relations. You will have full managerial responsibility for the Customer Relations team and take active part in their day-to-day work. The In-house Sales Team Manager is reporting to you and you will report to and support the Head of Global Sales and Customer Relations within the management of the Sales team. The role includes international travel.



Main responsibilities

. Produce annual plans and budget. Follow-up and ensure that targets, goals and deadlines are met.
. Take active part in day-to-day work and provide strong day-to-day leadership, inspiration and motivation for the Customer Relations team.
. Work together with In-house Sales Team Manager and Head of Global Sales and Customer Relations to coordinate and develop the sales staff.
. Carry out development planning, follow-ups and evaluation talks. Perform individual salary reviews with team members and manage staff planning.
. Work as a key account manager for an agreed number of customers.
. Enable your customers to see you as a partner rather than a vendor by acting as a resource, e.g. by sharing networks and contacts with customers, directing them to related areas of business, understanding their motivations and their situations regarding clinical trials and safety.
. Create and maintain vendor relations and collaborations with UMC partners and distributors.


Professional profile

. Solid experience from international sales and customers relations within life sciences.
. Strong leadership experience including direct management of staff.
. Understanding challenges and possibilities within clinical trials and drug safety.
. Experience of collaboration with legal affairs.
. University degree in Biomedical Science, or International Marketing/Industrial Marketing, or equivalent.
. English - excellent written and oral, Swedish - spoken and written, optional.

You are willing to travel and are expected to undertake international travel (from 4 to 14 days per trip) on several occasions per year.
