Research and Development within DLF Beet Seed is currently undergoing a major expansion phase and we are now looking for a seed enhancement scientist to join our great team of specialists. If you want to develop and make a difference in a strong international Group, please continue reading.

The position
The scientist will be responsible for the development and implementation of new innovative seed processing, priming, coating and pelleting treatments, from lab to commercial scale, primarily for sugar beet seeds. Once established in the role you will have a strong basic understanding of the physiology of seed, germination, growth young seedlings, the processing and technical applications of sugar beet.

Tasks
· Develop best practice for sugar beet processing based on the DLF germplasm.
· Be responsible for planning of budget on pre-commercial development projects.
· Manage projects aiming at improving and increasing efficiency in technical applications for seed enhancement.
· Drive development of tilling populations, evaluation and trait introduction in DLF Beet Seed germplasm.
· Interact with research institutes, universities etc. in the field of seed enhancement to share knowledge and ensure implementation of new technologies.
Your profile
We are looking for a highly motivated person with PhD preferably in Plant biology or chemistry scientific discipline like seed and plant physiology. Passion for technical and scientific innovation and problem solving is essential for success in this position.
As a person you are structured, self-propelled and like to collaborate with different stakeholders. We operate in a global market so good team working skills, with other scientist as well as with manufacturing, engineering and commercial colleagues, are crucial. You also need to feel comfortable speaking in front of a group and like giving guidance to others, since providing on-site and distance technical problem solving support to DLF beet sites, is part of the job.
You have capacity to innovate in a focused and product-oriented manner and an interest in and awareness of the market context of a commercial seed business. You are also able to handle logistical challenges, sometimes under time pressure. The position requires some travelling, so you need to be willing to travel internationally and nationally. Fluency in both English and Swedish (both spoken and written) is an advantage.
