Who are we
We are ramping up at the design department at Volvo Cars. The current role we are recruiting for is Senior Design Manager, Expert Senior Exterior Designer, Exterior Component Designer or Exterior Designer. We are open to different levels of expertise and the position will be based around your knowledge and expertise.
The Exterior design department is responsible for delivering material from ideation all the way thru the industrialization process, from concept all the way to serial production. We are working in an extreme complex environment, with the latest technology and challenging engineering demands. 
Your mission 
The mission will be to develop design from the ideational phase all the way to serial production. Mainly this will be through excellent execution of sketches and alias models. We expect you to be a self-starting designer with experience from automotive industry. You know the technical prerequisites of cars. 
Representing the Design department, you will attend meetings according to the requirements of the role. You will create, develop and implement design to reach “Design Leadership” but you could also already be at this level. It is equally important that you are skillful in visual communication with sketches.

Who are you
You may be senior in your current designer role but could also be a recent graduate from a well-recognized design university with some experience from the automotive industry looking to join for our exciting future ahead. 
As part of the design team at Volvo Cars you are responsible for design deliverables towards given tasks. You will contribute and support the design vision. It is important that you have excellent communication skills and could describe and communicate personal design ideas. 
It is important that you have a good sense of shape, sketch capability and a structured way of working. Most likely you have experience of working as a designer in new car projects or similar specialist areas. You are a talented sketcher and the best when it comes to ideation essential. Your mindset is important as well as collaborating well amongst others. With an eye for details and passion for cars you will take part in designing the future in a rapidly changing industry. We see that you are a patient with a positive attitude, flexible, result oriented as well as having the ability to understand and implement product development process.

To succeed, we believe that your background and skills include:
• Master or bachelor’s degree Design University or equivalent skills through experience
• Experience of working as a designer (in new car project or specialist area)
• Automotive industry experience
• Knowledge of design process and what it takes to bring a car from sketch to reality 
• Expert experience in your field
• Skills within relevant required IT tools/applications
• Utilize all design skill sets to create quality proposals of your own
• Concept modelling experience is a merit but not required
• Good verbal and written skills in English.
