About the position

Do you know exactly what it takes to make game controls feel surgically precise? Can you guide the creation of an in-game camera system that is responsive, precise and easy on the eyes, yet cinematic when it has to? Can you design a perfect cover system without breaking a sweat?

Massive is looking for a Senior Game Designer to join an international team, working on Tom Clancy?s The Division?. In this position you will work closely with ? primarily ? programmers and animators, to perfect the game?s controls, camera and core mechanics. In this role, you will have the opportunity to have major impact on the core quality and playability of the game.

Responsibilities
You will be primarily responsible for driving the development of the 3 C?s (Character, Controls and Camera).
You will be a part of maintaining the overall gameplay vision together with the Lead Game Designer and the rest of the design team.
You will design gameplay systems in order to provide players with the best experience possible.

You as a candidate

As a Senior Game Designer, in this position, you should be absolutely passionate about games, game development and the craft of game design. You should be comfortable with taking initiative and independently find creative solutions to complex problems. You should also be comfortable working within a multidisciplinary team, where you will be expected to - through collaboration - achieve the highest quality possible. You should have very high standards in everything you do and a devotion to creating the best game experience ever.

You should have solid experience and a firm grasp of both the hard and soft values involved in making a game play as smooth and precise as possible. How to make technology and visuals co-exist in perfect harmony, and make 1 + 1 = 3.

Required skills and experience
Minimum 6 years of industry experience
Worked on/shipped several AAA titles
Experience working with character controls, in-game camera and core gameplay
Absolute passion for playing and making games, especially RPG and TPS games
Extremely quality oriented
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent understanding of what makes games fun and compelling
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

Additional skills
Experience working with iterative development and quick iterations
Experience working with game camera and controls
Experience working with enemy AI/NPCs
Experience developing third-person action games
Experience developing RPGs
Experience working with node based tools/engines
Programming experience
A firm grasp of basic scripting principles
A firm grasp of basic mathematics
Experience from other creative ventures (e.g. music, art, writing)
