Senior Java / Scala Developer and Architect

Your Key Responsibilities:

You will be an active member of an agile development team of 10 talented software developers focusing on the design, implementation and deployment of our enterprise mobility platform Appear IQ. You will work closely with the product owner and other team members to realize product requirements efficiently while maintaining high quality.

At Appear, everyone wears a lot of hats. So this position will also involve a wide array of other tasks such as: requirements analysis, quality assurance, documentation and can even include training of 3rd party backend developers in or outside Sweden.

In addition to Java/Scala development expertise, we are looking for a smart, creative, and rounded problem solver. We are looking for someone that learns quickly, tends to do a great job in whatever they do, wants to get a lot of experience, welcomes responsibility and is fun to work with.

Your Key Qualifications:

- Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
- 4+ years of experience in a software development role
- Strong grasp of Java and/or Scala development
- Experience designing scalable enterprise systems
- Understanding of mobile platforms, in particular Android, iOS and Windows Phone
- Understanding of networking technologies and cloud deployment - Understanding of SQL-based relational and NoSQL databases
- Understanding of caching technologies
- Experience working with agile development methodologies (Scrum and/or Kanban)
- Good communication skills in English are required
- Experience with web development (HTML/JavaScript) is a plus
- Experience as a team leader is a plus
- User interaction design skills is a plus
- Being a software generalist is a plus, i.e. having knowledge of a wide range of computer languages and development platforms is a plus
