The Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering (ACE) at Chalmers University of Technology now has an open full-time permanent position as Senior Lecturer in Construction Management. The position is placed at the Division of Construction Management and will focus on organization and leadership. You will join a research group with the ambition to understand, improve and prepare the construction sector to face present and future challenges such as integration, coordination, digitalization and sustainability.

Our department has about 290 employees who work with every aspect of the built environment in the community – houses to live in, roads to travel on, and water to drink – from planning and design, organization and management to construction and maintenance, with respect to a sustainable future.

Division of Construction Management
The understanding of the human role in building processes is central for the division of Construction Management. Our research is interdisciplinary and covers the entire construction process form early stages design, production, facilities management to demolition and recycling. Working closely with the industry, we focus on the changes and challenges the sector is facing, in particular in the transition towards sustainability. We are looking to strengthen our team in the area of organization, management and leadership with a particular emphasis on work practices as well as the roles of individuals, organizations and institutions in developing the sector.

As a senior lecturer, you will be a part of our division and research team with possibility to develop your research area and teaching skills. We have a strong and dynamic research team who both collaborate on current research and perform individual research. Our division contributes to the Civil Engineering programs at Chalmers, and is mainly responsible for the Master's programme Design and Construction Project Management (MPDCPM). We provide specific courses in project management, methods and enquiry in organisations, organisational change, leadership and communication, amongst others.

Responsibilities and tasks
As a senior lecturer in Construction Management, you will be responsible for courses related to the Civil Engineering programs at Chalmers. Supervision and examination of thesis work are included in the position.

Your responsibilities will include:
 - To lead, develop and teach courses delivered by the department
-  To supervise students in our Bachelor and Master programs.
-  Perform research and actively apply for external funding.
-  Collaborate with industry and society as well as within academia, in Sweden and internationally.

Contract terms
Full-time permanent employment.

Your profile
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Social science or similar
- PhD degree in the field of Construction Management
- Mastering of theories of human behavior, organisation, management and work environment is a clear advantage. 
- Well documented teaching skills and experience from teaching and development of education at undergraduate and graduate levels, documented in your pedagogical portfolio
- Well documented ability to supervise bachelor's and master's students. Experience of co-supervision of doctoral students will be a merit.
- Well documented capacity and good potential for high quality scientific research, as evidenced by publication records
- Capability to formulate research projects will be considered meritorius. This can be shown through the ability to write research proposals and achieved research grants.
- It is important that you possess an understanding of the particular conditions for carrying out projects in a Scandinavian fashion. This mode of production is characterised by involvement of highly skilled building workers, flat hierarchies and framing of a welfare society.

We consider research and pedagogical merits as equally important. Thus, aside the research profile and merits, we will put emphasis on the pedagogical portfolio. You should have completed (or be able to complete within two years of an appointment) courses in teaching and learning in higher education (15 higher education credits).

You should be able to speak and write English fluently and be willing to learn Swedish. If Swedish is not your native language, we would like you to be able to teach in Swedish on the undergraduate level after two years. Chalmers offers Swedish courses.
