Scania has decided to establish a third industrial hub in China. Alongside building a new factory and an expansion of the sales network we will also establish a local R&D organization in China. Our mission in R&D Industrial Operations Asia is to develop trucks especially adapted for the Chinese market, the biggest commercial vehicle market in the world and globally leading in connectivity and digitalization.
The starting point for the vehicle's electrical system is the Scania platform. However, to be successful in the Chinese market we have to adopt the electrical system to meet the challenging product cost target in the Chinese B+ segment while at the same time secure that we meet the very high expectations on Infotainment and Connectivity solutions on the Chinese market.
The work will be carried out by a dedicated organisation that consists of colleagues from all brands within the TRATON Group together with many new colleagues from China. We are building the organisation simultaneously as we develop the product and are now looking for a senior manager that can help us grow with speed.
Your assignment
In your role as Senior Manager of SW Development, you will be responsible for building the right team and establishing a culture and way of working that enables SW development with speed. The area of responsibility covers the onboard SW as well as the offboard SW for our connected vehicles in China.
Together with your team of managers and the team members you will secure that our product has the SW functionality that the Chinese customers require, and that we continuously push for delivering additional customer value ahead of our competitors.
Your profile
We are looking for a driven manager that has a solid technical background in software development, preferably both from embedded and cloud / offboard. Together with your management team and senior experts in the organisation you are able to leverage your technical competence to define a strategic direction for your area to support a delegated mandate enabling speed in decision-making on all levels in the organisation.
You thrive in a “start-up” environment where you need to focus on both product, people, and processes to grow the organisation with speed while continuously securing a high delivery capacity. You are creative and enthusiastic with the capability to manage many complex interfaces and questions in parallel and you continuously seek improvements by challenging the routines.
You enjoy working in an international environment and since you will have many international employees it is important that you feel comfortable in both written and spoken English.

Your location
Today our offices are located in Södertälje. During 2023 we will start to relocate parts of the organisation to China and the new offices in Shanghai. There will be possibilities for both Long term and Short term assignments in China depending on your role and your situation.
