Job Description
Help us improve access to life-changing therapies that can transform human health
We are Cytiva, a global provider of technologies and services that advance and accelerate the development and manufacture of therapeutics. Formerly part of GE Healthcare, we have a rich heritage tracing back hundreds of years, and a fresh beginning since 2020.
Our customers undertake life-saving activities. These range from fundamental biological research to developing innovative vaccines, biologic drugs, and novel cell and gene therapies. Our job is to supply the tools and services - the pots, pans, soups and sauces - they need to work better, faster and safer, leading to better patient outcomes.
We are looking for a Senior Scientist focused on downstream processing to the Fast Trak team in Uppsala, a global team that works to support the biopharma industry, primarily in Europe. Fast Trak is a dynamic team that supports customers from industry/academia with process development services for various biomolecules as well as training courses.
What You'll Do
As a Fast Trak senior scientist, you will be working directly with our customers in a collaborative environment. You will be leading customer discussions, developing, optimizing and/or scaling up parts of/ complete downstream processes, acting as project manager for customer projects as well as conducting independent scientific application work on various projects with monoclonal antibodies, vaccines, recombinant proteins, plasma fractionation etc. Most application work is done in process development scale but your understanding and experience of large scale biomanufacturing will ensure that scalable solutions are implemented. The role also includes developing and delivering training courses for customers, theoretical as well as practical, in the field of biomanufacturing.
To effectively perform the job, you will develop and nurture your internal network within the commercial and scientific teams as well as securing a creative environment in the customer projects to support and identify successful solutions for their biomanufacturing processes.
Who you are
You have a PhD or Master’s degree in chemistry, physics, biotechnology, bioprocess/biomedical engineering, biochemical/chemical engineering or related life sciences field. At least five years’ experience in downstream process development, scale-up, tech transfer, and/or manufacturing with demonstrated project manager experience and ability to drive projects individually as well as with a team. You enjoy working in a high pace, flexible environment with demonstrated abilities to work in a collaborative, matrixed, and customer focused environment. Strong presentation and communication skills as well as advanced English skills (oral and in writing) is also required.
Preferably you also have industrial experience in downstream processing of biomolecules or viral vectors (filtration, downstream, technology transfer, validation, process development, biomanufacturing, continuous processing) and working knowledge of FDA/EMEA regulations for biologics (Phase I-II and commercial). Demonstrated abilities to engage and motivate teams as well as prior teaching and/or presentation experience with scientific material is also desirable.
Who we are
Whatever your role, we bring purpose and challenge into our everyday work. If you are driven to make the world a better place thanks to science and medicine, you’ll feel right at home here. If you’re flexible, curious and relentless, you’ll belong. If you are excited about a global culture, this can be the place to further your career.
