The department Vehicle Concepts and Electrification Strategy is responsible for leading the efficient integration of new technologies into the vehicles in the areas of mechanics, mechatronics, thermodynamics and controls. As an automotive OEM, Volvo Cars development organisation includes deep competencies in almost all technical disciplines. As Senior Vehicle System Modelling Engineer you will be the resource and the competence of the department for conceptual simulations within the area of functionality and controls. You will be part of a team of senior engineers, which leads the cross functional analysis and optimisation work across the related function areas (e.g. powertrain, climate, active safety etc).

Main responsibilities
· Develop simulation models to document and test conceptual function and controls solutions
· Lead the work across different areas such as active safety and autonomous drive energy management, to model and test integrated controls solution
· Develop strategies on how to utilise state of the art development theory and CAE methods to enhance development and integration of functionality
· Cooperate with CAE engineers and concept engineers within other technical disciplines to achieve cross functional optimisation
· Operate the target setting at complete vehicle level, technology and sub systems development within the organisation
· Develop and deploy working processes and methods in cooperation with other stakeholders
· Contribute by being pro active and defining opportunities for the future business and product

Required qualifications
· M.Sc. or PhD degree in engineering, focused on system and controls development
· Several years of experience in the area of complex customer related real time systems
· Excellent skills in Matlab, Simulink and experience from model based function development, preferable from the automotive industry
· Ability to conduct your own simulations to verify ideas and to enable efficient cooperation with other CAE engineers in the area
· Fluent in English (written and spoken)
· Experience from advanced applied S/W development including methodology and tools is meritorious as well as a high level of theoretical skills
