Stakeholder Relation- & Social Impact Manager

Arbetsbeskrivning

Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.

The Stakeholder Engagement Team - let’s introduce ourselves.
You will be part of a newly established team which aims to accelerate Volvo Cars’ purpose and strategic objectives through partnership with a wide range of stakeholders, including NGOs, global organisations (e.g., the World Economic Forum), academic and multi-lateral institutions, as well as other purpose-driven brands.  Our purpose is ‘For Life. To give people the freedom to move in a personal, sustainable, and safe way,’ building on our proud history and leadership in safety to ensure that we become pioneers for both people and the planet.
Social Impact Lead - this is what you’ll do.
You will be responsible for the successful global delivery and management of our new SDG-aligned Social Impact Framework and Fund. This aims to build on and give greater focus to existing activity within our markets, and central initiatives (e.g., our support for those who fled the war in Ukraine). The overarching objective is to ensure that our intervention, alongside selected partners, positively impacts as many lives as possible. There is a specific focus on ensuring we protect the most vulnerable in society, including children and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.  It is important that activity involves our employees and retailers.  To deliver, you will need to work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders. This will be done through building productive relationships with NGO partners and multi-lateral organizations, as well as colleagues in Global Sustainability, People Experience, the wider Communications team and the regions. You will use your own knowledge as well as these networks to enable us to make a measurable difference in addressing major social challenges, which could include violation of children’s rights, inequality of opportunity and road safety.
You will be responsible for: Establishing strong governance structures, including to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the Fund and assess new project proposals and potential partners. Overseeing the Fund, including ensuring that reporting and financial processes are observed, as well as developing an effective, credible methodology and process to measure and evaluate impact. Managing selected global partners, working with them to ensure that our financial and in-kind support has maximum impact. Liaising with leads in the regions in which we operate to ensure that their activity is aligned with the focus areas of the Framework and delivers measurable impact – as well as offer support and advice. Ensuring our social impact framework and activity is well-communicated internally and externally. Supporting the wider stakeholder engagement efforts of the team, including preparation for major events e.g., COPs, UN General Assembly, WEF Annual Meeting.
What you’ll bring
We are looking for a passionate, results-focused sustainability/social impact professional, with a proven track-record of developing, managing, and delivering successful social impact/CSR programmes and philanthropic funds, including for non-profits, companies or multi-lateral institutions & agencies. Given your experience and strong understanding of social development issues and challenges, you will be able to provide clear guidance centrally and to the regions on best practise to maximise impact, as well as advise on appropriate social advocacy opportunities. You will identify new potential projects and partners based on industry best practices, as well as propose and deliver improvements to the management, governance and focus of the Fund to ensure its ongoing development. Moreover, you will be able to continually monitor and improve the evaluation of our social impact work, helping develop solid internal competence in this area. Through your enthusiasm and expertise, you will inspire colleagues across the company to identify opportunities where they and their teams can make a difference within the communities in which they operate. But most of all, you will share our values and have a strong desire to help give others a brighter future.
