Strategic Purchaser - Caterpillar Propulsion
Caterpillar Propulsion wants to strengthen the Strategic Purchasing department. Do you want to take part in a team with a lot of responsibility and influence? Strategic Purchasing has an international engagement to support our two production sites in Sweden and Singapore. Our responsibility is to develop and maintain our supplier base, ensuring efficient delivery of services and materials at the right cost and quality.
As a Strategic Purchaser you are responsible to set strategies in terms of supplier negotiations, supplier selection, supplier relations and risk management. You need to have an eye for market trends, keep updated on the market situation and contribute to the departments over all development. In collaboration with the design department and the marketing company you will contribute to ensure that Caterpillar Propulsion has a holistic sourcing solution. Our business is highly technically oriented and we believe that you have a strong technical background and understanding as well as an aptitude for purchasing.
Main responsibilities
* Sourcing roadmap within appointed commodity; strategy, supplier base analysis, potential risks, contingency planning, recommendations and alignment to technical/market roadmap
* Develop and strengthen supplier base and ensure necessary agreements are in place with focus on terms of quality, capacity, cost and risk management
* Negotiating agreements to establish a good supply chain and ensuring validity of agreements and price lists
* Implement new strategic suppliers through assessment and company procedure
* Represent the sourcing area in development projects
Required qualifications
* Diploma in Engineering, Supply Chain Management or Economics
* 2-5 years of experience from purchasing/strategic purchasing; or engineering experience with close connection to supplier handling
* Good knowledge of any of the areas forging, casting, hydraulics, electronics and/or fabrications
* Experience within the a manufacturing environment or other relevant area (marine industry is meritorious)
* High level in the English language (written and spoken)
* Computer skills (ERP systems such as Monitor, MS Dynamics AX, MS Office)

* Strong communication skills
* Flexible in adopting new ideas and unfamiliar methods
* Independent as well as a team player
* Willing to travel
