The department Safety Electronics has been a rapidly growing part of Volvo Car Group over the last decade. This is due to development within Active Safety where Volvo, through continuous launching innovative and world first safety features, has positioned itself among the leaders of the automotive industry. Now the work continues to reach our ambitious vision that by 2020 no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo Car.

Safety Electronics consists of approximately 65 employees organized into four sections: Preventive Safety, Protective Safety, Supportive Safety and Sensor Fusion. Within the department we develop systems such as Collision Avoidance, Autonomous Drive, Full Automatic Parking, Driver Support and Protective Safety. To do this we use sensor systems based on Radar, Laser, Ultrasonics, Cameras and Accelerometers. Through Sensor Fusion, these sensors are combined to create an awareness of the vehicle surroundings that can be used by various Driver Assist and Safety Functions to support the driver.

We are involved in all aspects of the product development process, from early research and advanced engineering projects to industrialization of the systems in accordance with Volvo Product Development System, VPDS.

As a Software Design Engineer for Full Automatic Parking (FAP) you are responsible for designing software components that meet requirements from technical, real-time and cost perspectives. You define the interface between your software components and the system architecture i.e. mapping Logical Design Components (LDC's) to software components. You create & release the software requirements specification (SWRS) and are the main contact for SW requirements interpretation towards both internal and external stakeholders.

Development is performed in close cooperation with the supplier base in a creative and international work environment. At Volvo Car Group the opportunities for personal development are excellent as we have development centres both in Sweden and China as well as a number of ongoing research projects.

Main responsibilities

* Plan, implement and follow-up development of software components
* Act as main contact for design level questions from supplier's SW developers
* Together with the System Test Engineers, develop DVM's to ensure that the SW requirements can be tested and verified
* Lead SQuAD related activities such as SW Joint Reviews (SWJR)
* Perform SW Delivery Reviews and guide supplier SW deliveries through Volvo's SW release process (CRB)
* Develop SW requirements in Elektra (map LDC's and delegate ports
* Define signal interface and Logic Timing Constraints (LTC's) towards Signal Database (SdB) team
* Develop the diagnostic strategy and review its implementation in Carcom

Required qualifications

* MSc degree in engineering or equivalent
* 3-5 years experience from automotive industry
* Experience from SW development
* Driver´s license
* Excellent English skills, verbally and written
* Meritorious is knowledge from Volvo SPA base tech concepts, Volvo tools Elektra, TCr, System Weaver, SDA as well as experience from requirements management and diagnostics or SW testing
