System Developer/Project co-ordinator

alaTEST is a daughter company of International Consumer Services Sweden AB, a young and growing international Internet start-up. Our mission is to objectively inform consumers about product quality by collecting, analysing and publishing product tests and reviews. We are urgently looking for a person that can help us to further refine our technical platform, which is the foundation for our web site in multiple languages. With our large database as your primary responsibility, you will be working with analysis, design, and import/export of data. You will also be involved with the overall architecture of our database. You probably have studied or worked with system development and database administration. You should be motivated by creating leading solutions with new technology and should be comfortable in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment. PHP 4 is the language used for our web site, but Java-based solutions are used to accomplish certain peripheral tasks. The databases used are Microsoft Access and MySQL. Java and SQL knowledge is mandatory. Your task is, through knowledge, experience and creativity, to help us improve the quality of our database. The work will encompass database administration, programming of scripting agents, integration towards our partners and communication with our management team. We are looking for a person with experience of design and development of Java and databases. Optimization of the database will also be an important part of your work. You should have some knowledge in web techniques, internet protocols and XML. Regular expressions experience is very positive. Previous experience of web spiders, robots or agents is a big advantage as developing these tools will be a part of your responsibility. Besides developing, a major part of your responsibility will be to co-ordinate our group of external Asian contractors that are assisting us with database administration and web crawler programming. We are looking for an outgoing person that cooperate easy and are self-motivating. You should be communicative and like to take own initiatives. Please note that our working language is English, and it is NOT required that you speak Swedish. The position is a full-time employment with a six months probation period.
