Production Unit (PU) Sandviken, within the Business Area Sandvik Mining & Rock Technology, has a Logistics department with responsibility for ensuring the materials supply, in order to meet customer demands regarding lead times and customer satisfaction. There are about 500 people in the PU, 80 of them working with Logistics and 11 of those working with purchasing. We are now looking for a Tactical Purchaser.

Job summery
As Tactical Purchaser you maintain and manage a portfolio of suppliers of raw materials such as bars and tubes. You guide and develop supplier relationships, collaborate with Sourcing concerning contract negotiations and strategy and ensure the fulfillment of purchasing policies and processes, as well as compliance with ethical standards, relevant laws and regulations. Balancing costs on the one hand with service levels on the other is a daily challenge for you. You need to have a good relationship with our internal functions such as Planning, Production, Quality, R&D and Product Management to be able to be successful in your role.

Other main responsibilities in this position include following up and monitoring suppliers and actively taking actions that improve their performance. You manage supplier forecasts, identify and implement projects that deliver cost savings and/or increased value, on your own and in conjunction with the suppliers. Furthermore, you continually initiate and lead process improvements, develop our cooperation with other Sandvik sites and negotiate new investments for our production.

Your profile
We are looking for someone with a degree in Industrial Engineering Management, Logistics or another relevant field, or equivalent knowledge obtained through work experience. You have some years of experience in international purchasing activities at a tactical or strategic level, preferably within the manufacturing industry. You have good knowledge of Excel, as well as good skills in English, in both writing and speaking, with skills in Swedish being advantageous.
