Science Teacher Year 6-9

We are looking for a qualified Science teacher to join us from August 2019. The position is for 1 year, with the possibility of this becoming a permanent.  IES Järfälla is one of the most well-established schools in the IES company, with clear structures, well-functioning routines and a warm atmosphere. IES Järfälla is situated in the greater Stockholm area and the school is a short walk from Jakobsbergs Station.

We are looking for a person with an enthusiasm for their subject, excellent classroom management and a sincere interest in student well-being. You will be working with experienced and dedicated colleagues in the Science department to plan knowledge-rich and inspiring lessons, as well as overseeing the development of our local curriculum for Science Years 6-9.

Science is taught in English in our school, but a working knowledge of Swedish is a benefit. You will be teaching all four Science subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Technology) over the course of the year, covering each subject for 6 - 10 weeks. We have, in the last two years, developed a close cooperation with Komtek in Jakobsberg, and recently, with Professors and students from Stockholm University to ensure students encounter and use technology themselves.

In addition to teaching Science, you will be part of a Year Team (arbetslag) overseeing the academic progress and well-being of students in your year team.  We are looking for a positive and creative team player, who looks for solutions, shares ideas and is open to learning from others. The role also includes mentorship of 16 students.

It is vital that applicants are fluent in English, and have a Bachelor's degree in Science and/ or Swedish lärarlegitimation for Science.
