Team Leader Computational Chemistry & Computational Biology - Respiratory, Inflammation & Autoimmunity iMed AstraZeneca R&D, Mölndal - Ref no MOL0000013N.

The department of Medicinal Chemistry RIA, AstraZeneca R&D, Mölndal, Sweden, wishes to recruit a Team Leader to manage our CC/CB team of computational chemists and computational biologist supporting drug discovery.

The arena
The Respiratory, Inflammation & Autoimmunity iMed develops novel drugs for the treatment of conditions such as asthma and COPD. The CC/CB team supports the RIA drug discovery programs by applying state of the art in silico methods for modeling, compound design and data analysis. The team also provides bioinformatics and cheminformatics expertise into our project teams. The team operates in a highly cross disciplinary environment in close collaboration with scientists from the Chemistry, Bioscience and Translational Science departments to advance the RIA project pipeline.

The role
As Team Leader you will be responsible for the management and performance of your team to ensure that expectations on high quality project contribution are met. Active participation and contribution to the scientific development of our drug research programs is also an important part of the role, requiring an understanding of the therapeutic needs of the RIA disease area as well as insights into the underlying science driving disease pathology.

As Team Leader you will be responsible for the individual development of the team members, setting objectives and leading performance reviews. Ensuring compliance with the AstraZeneca SHE standards and Code of Conduct are important parts of the role.

Minimum experience
The position requires at minimum education and training to PhD level, and demands extensive experience gained within pharmaceutical research in the areas of computational chemistry, biology and/or bio/cheminformatics.

The successful applicant is to be organized yet flexible and creative with the ability to operate effectively in a multidisciplinary research matrix environment, providing leadership and insights as well as future perspectives on the development of the team. Highly developed interpersonal skills are essential for the position.
