Temporary Research Engineer

Description:
The project aims at providing a real-time web-based service for the monitoring and forecast of space weather related to geomagnetic disturbances over Europe. The disturbances give rise to geomagnetically induced currents in electrical power grids. The service will be implemented as part of Regional Warning Center - Sweden (RWC), based at the Lund office within the Swedish Institute of Space Physics. Currently there are 14 RWCs around the world.

The work to be carried out:
Implement automatic processes and algorithms relating to data download and model runs.
Implement data processing to/from SQL database.
Implement a web service displaying observed and forecast data.

Qualifications:
At least a Master of Science in Physics or Engineering or equivalent.
Knowledge about space weather is essential.
Experience in UNIX (bash), SQL, and web services is essential.
Experience in software such as Java SE, Java EE, GlassFish, PHP, JavaScripts, C/C++, Matlab, Python.

A temporary employment during the period of 2013-09-01 ? 2014-02-28.
