Thermal Engineer

Your role

As a thermal engineer at EW Systems you will be challenged within a wide range of thermal and CFD- tasks related to our Radar Warning-, Electronic Jamming- and Countermeasure systems. You will support our systems-, electro- and mechanical engineers with thermal- and CFD analyses to resolve heat problems and to design for sufficient cooling on products in all phases of the product life cycle.

In addition to simulations you'll conduct design tests to support and verify results, conduct qualification tests with respect to e.g. temperature, humidity and EMC.

This role comes with possibilities to personal and technical development, e.g. to widen scope to include closer cooperation to systems design or too develop your leadership skills.



Your profile

You have a general interest for electronic- and mechanical design and a specific interest in how to solve thermal problems and create cooling solutions. You are used to efficiently collaborating with team members as well as other stakeholders. You are structured and have an analytical mindset enabling you to adapt to changed circumstances.

Required skills:

* An academic degree within mechanical design, energy engineering, engineering physics or corresponding (or equivalent experience)
* Work Experience from thermal- and CFD analyses/electronics cooling, cooling system design, specification of the applicable parts, thermal and flow measurements
* Excellent communication skills in Swedish and English, verbally and written

Desired skills:

* ANSYS-Suite (Mechanical, CFX, Fluent) and/or CCM STAR+
* Experience designing thermal test cases
* Experience from installing and performing thermal design tests
* Experience from cooling systems
* Experience from specifying parts for cooling systems
* You feel driven by developing and improving thermal solutions
* Work experience within flight industry or equivalent tough thermal environment



This position requires that you will be approved in a security screening in accordance with the Swedish Protective Security Act.





What you will be a part of

Surveillance is a Business Area within Saab and a world leading supplier of systems for detection of threats and self-protection systems. Business Unit EW Systems is responsible for Electronic Warfare, Telekrig in Swedish, and develops and manufactures systems for Radar Warning, Electronic Jamming, Countermeasures and Surveillance.

Within the department for hardware development you will join a team of analysts in the Structural Analysis section. We have a positive atmosphere and a culture of knowledge sharing. The section is responsible for providing the hardware design teams with structural analyses to evaluate design proposals and verify structural integrity and with thermal analyses to evaluate thermal distribution within electronic equipment as well as cooling solutions.
