The Sub-Technology Area Transport & Logistics Solutions within the Technology Area: Transport Solutions & Services perform research and development with the primary goals to develop sustainable transport solutions and to analyze impacts and effects on the transport system. To perform this, we have a multidisciplinary staff of employees, skilled in computer-, logistics- and engineering-sciences. To strengthen our Sub-Technology Area we are now looking for a person with skills in the area of safety and transport efficiency analysis.

Examples of work:
Support projects, internally in the Volvo Group and externally on a national as well as international level.
Analysis and evaluation of transport solutions and safety benefits, e.g.:
Safety benefit analysis of active and passive safety systems and services
Analysis of general and in-depth accident data
Development of new transport and logistics solutions
Network and collaborate in different fora internally the Volvo group, with competitors (OEM?s) and with authorities and funding bodies

Background:
Master of Science in Engineering

A background and competence in the areas below are seen as favorable:
Data analysis, e.g.:
Machine learning
Pattern recognition, clustering
Data mining
Statistics
Programming skills (in particular Matlab and SQL), e.g.:
Parallel processing
Distributed computing
Linux
Data collection (e.g. logging of field data) and data management
Experience in signal processing is an advantage

Experience from the vehicle industry and development of vehicle concepts
Moreover, you should have entrepreneurial and innovative skills, a holistic perspective and be target oriented. We believe that you are flexible and open minded with the ability to work independently but also to act as a good team player. The position will range from giving expert opinions to performing analysis on large data sets and being part of project teams. Further prerequisites for this position are analytical skills, thorough and good communication skills. Knowledge in English, written and spoken, is required, knowledgeable in written German is favorable and knowledge in other languages is a plus. Furthermore, you should be a good representative of the group with the ability to create trust and good relations on all organizational levels, both inside and outside of the Volvo Group.
