Your team
The accelerators at the MAX IV facility are the core systems for production of the synchrotron radiation.

There are two storage rings and one linear accelerator. The largest of these accelerators – the 3 GeV electron storage ring – is the first in the world to employ a multi-bend-achromat magnetic lattice to deliver ultrahigh-brightness synchrotron radiation. In order to maintain its competitive edge MAX IV has initiated a conceptual design study of an upgrade to its 3 GeV ring – MAX 4-U – aiming at 3-5 times increase in performance.

Would you like to work at one of the brightest light sources in the world?

MAX IV is looking for an internationally recognized expert in electron storage-ring beam dynamics and lattice design who will propose and analyze several candidate low-emittance lattices.

Your main work tasks will be

- Propose and optimize magnet lattices following the strict requirements of the MAX 4-U conceptual design study.
- Employ analytical and numerical approaches to evaluate the dynamic performance of various magnet lattices according to the needs of the MAX 4-U CDR project.

To be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications

- An internationally established reputation as an expert in magnet lattice design for low emittance storage rings.
- Demonstrated experience with the actual design of third and fourth-generation electron storage rings of various energies and sizes.
- Ability to work in a team.

As a person you are eager to perform theoretical studies, with a critical eye on the feasibility of the proposed solutions.

What we offer
When you join our MAX IV team, you step into a world of front edge science. We make the invisible visible by supporting scientist from all over the world, generating scientific results for the benefit of society. We offer you a multicultural work environment with great opportunities for personal development with respect for a healthy work-life balance.

Would you like to work in a challenging and supporting environment? Then join us and take the opportunity to make a real difference!
