The Hardware & Framework Verification Group

The HW & FW Verification group consists of 3 different teams with highly skilled verification engineers; all focused mainly on the HW aspects of the electrical & electronics systems of the trucks. This open position is within the Hardware verification team which focuses on a HW and environmental testing, such as vibrations, shock, and temperature. It includes supporting component owners in regards of HW requirements and testing according to ISO specifications & Volvo standards. The team is responsible for test specifications, test methods, testing, planning & reporting. The future challenges of the team include finding smart ways for automatic monitoring during tests and an even more global way of working. The team cooperates daily with other engineers around the globe.

Work description:
In this role you will follow a component from idea on paper, to prototyping, re-designs and rigorous testing. The challenge is for every component to function well during its designed lifetime in the harsh environment of our trucks. To be able to do a great job you need to always have a quality approach in mind and have an eye for details. In the daily work you will coach component owners and suppliers, follow the components under test, work with the test plans and environmental testing. For this role you need to be technically skilled, a problem solver and a people person. You find joy in explaining and guiding other persons through the process to achieve quality assured hardware - both control units and other parts for our future projects. For this position we would like to see someone with a genuine interest in verification and further on a career as team leader or test specification owner.

Core responsibilities:

· Analysis of designs and requirements

· Supporting component owners and others in understanding the requirements, tests & design choices impacting HW quality

· Creating test plans

· Environmental testing in our lab

· Reporting results

· Actively working together with the other team members to secure that the HW verification team as a whole can deliver according to the set time plans


Required Competencies:


· Fluent in written and spoken English

· Working experience within verification

· A background within HW and/or environmental testing

· Any background within scripts, automatic test creation and/or test equipment or tool development is a good merit

· Understanding of Volvo tools and processes is a good merit

· Basic understanding of CAN and LIN communication is a good merit

· Truck license is a good merit

· Highly motivated and loves team work

Minimum Education Required:
University Degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science/Chemical/Mechanical or recognized equivalent

Physical requirements:
To be able to climb in and out of a truck
