Vice President, Sustainable Forest Management

The new Forest division, which started operations in the beginning of 2020, includes Stora Enso’s Swedish forest assets and the 41% share of Tornator with the majority of its forest assets located in Finland. The division also includes wood supply operations in Finland, Sweden, Russia and the Baltic countries. The division’s key focus areas are sustainable forest management, competitive wood supply to Stora Enso’s mills and innovation. As a major player in the bioeconomy, access to wood is critical for Stora Enso. Today, Stora Enso is one of the biggest private forest owners in the world.
We are increasing our capabilities in Sustainable Forest Management and are now looking for a Vice President, who will be supporting the Forest Division’s Sustainability Strategy.
We offer you a challenging position in our Forest Division with real opportunities to influence and have an impact on our business success. You will be working together with and coordinating a network of sustainability experts throughout Stora Enso. You will have the possibility to build the content and storyline of Stora Enso’s forest management by evaluating, developing and communicating present sustainable forest management practises and utilizing the latest research to improve and increase both efficiency of business and preservation of biodiversity.


Your responsibilities
- Develop, improve and implement sustainable forest management strategies and methods in a wide perspective in all our forest operations, including aspects to protect and develop biodiversity and actions to combat and mitigate climate change.

Requirements
- University degree in forestry, forest ecology, forest biology or similar
- 10+ years of working experience in the area
- Fluency in spoken and written English
- Practical and solution oriented
- Strong existing network and ability to network both inside a matrix organisation and with external stakeholders
- Independent in work and able to present information in a professional manner, in international context
- Deep knowledge of forestry, forest biology and forest ecology, with special focus on boreal ecosystems
- Knowledge of climate change mitigation, CO2 calculations, LCA, afforestation projects evaluations
- Understanding and experience of forest certification
- Readiness to travel
