Lead Engineer, aeroelastic modelling/simulation
Role Summary/PurposeFor a successful wind turbine development the accurate and fast simulation of the wind turbine system and interactions with the environment is key. The load and simulation team is responsible for providing design loads, power curves, acoustics and system dynamics for the wind turbines. This scope includes calculations, documentations, certification and validation of the wind turbine models. The main tool to solve these topics is an aero elastic simulation code.
Essential Responsibilities
The candidate will further develop the simulation tool capabilities be better represent the system.
He/She is to work and be the expert on an analytical approach to one or several of the following:
Improve blade modeling and interaction with wind, in particular by advanced analytical beam modeling approaches.
Improve substructure modeling and interaction with turbine i.e. monopiles, jackets, tripods, etc), develop and integrate the substructure model into the overall systems simulations and optimize the process to calculate the load sets for the offshore turbines.
Develop and improve the wave loads modeling for offshore wind turbines to calculate splash height, frequency spectra, minimum hub height, etc.
He/ she should have experience in aero elastic modeling, coding and simulations, and preferably with different aero elastic tools, such as Flex, Vidyn, FAST, ADAMS, SAMCEF or similar. He /she should also have a theoretical and analytical understanding of FEA modeling and fluid dynamics since these codes might be based on different modeling of fundamental mechanics and aerodynamics. In order to improve and maintain the codes, general high-level programming is needed.
The position requires interaction with global engineering teams and Product Line Leadership. This position requires some domestic and international travel.
