Title
Acoustic Beamforming Filter Demonstrator.
Introduction
Mechanical and Simulation Engineering is a department in Volvo Construction Equipment Wheel Loader organization in Eskilstuna. The group focuses on different areas within simulation and mechanical engineering. We are 20 people in the department and even though we work in different fields we always support and help each other.
The foundation in our work is trust and passion in what we do. The work is usually organized in cross functional projects small or large with other departments across the Volvo world. In such work where every team member is a part of the puzzle teamwork and communication are crucial in the daily project work to create an open and friendly working environment.
Background
The acoustic operator environment is essential for Volvo Construction Equipment machines. Our cabins are known for their low internal noise levels and that operators will experience a productive work shift in this environment. To further refine this environment, we seek solutions for improved communication with the machine and its operator. This communication solution should ideally work regardless of whether the operator or speaker are located on the inside or outside of the cabin or working remotely.
Description
In this thesis work the target is to script a frequency domain implementation of a Wiener filter for an acoustic beamforming application. The work is a continuation of a preceding MSc thesis work on beamforming. While that work focused on recordings and processing with acoustic broadband beamforming, will this work be a continuation and focus on further refinements of these recorded signals to develop and demonstrate an optimisation procedure for best signal to noise ratio.
Qualifications
The student/students need to have a background in Signal Processing and have good MATLAB programming skills.
