Chemist for development of nanoparticles

The role
The successful candidate will join our core team and work with the development and implementation of our nanoparticle (NP) platform. We work in a multidisciplinary environment where chemistry, physics, biology, fluidics, and software meet. Your main responsibility will be the development and characterization of the NPs for bioassay applications with focus on NP synthesis, coating and characterization. You will also work with the bioassays in order to successfully adapt the NPs for successful biomolecule probing.


Responsibilities
Plan, execute, organize and report research
Development & synthesis of NPs
Development of NP coatings to enable biomolecule probing
Develop characterization methods for NP and surface analysis
Perform routine characterizations of NPs



Skills & Requirements
We are looking for a candidate with high levels of energy and a solution-oriented mind-set with background in synthetic & colloidal chemistry. The right person is an initiative taker with high standards, keen attention to detail and meticulous in both design and documentation. You have a hands-on approach and enjoy spending a significant time in the lab. The candidate fits into a start-up environment by being flexible and seeks to find efficient ways to reach goals and milestones. You have:
PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, or molecular diagnostics
Experience with synthesis, purification and characterization of nanoparticles
Experience with characterization methods such as SEM, TEM, DLS, Z-potential, FT-IR, XRD, UV-VIS, Fluorescence imaging etc.
Experience with biochemistry and hybridization assays
Experience developing novel molecular diagnostics methods
Strong laboratory skills and hands-on approach
Fluent in English with strong communication and presentation skills
Organized, meticulous, detail-oriented and data driven is highly regarded
Experience from industry is highly regarded



Terms of employment
This is a full-time salary position available immediately, with a 6 months probational period that can lead to full time employment.
