We are looking for a Director Innovation & Sustainability who will be responsible to develop a partnership ecosystem with suppliers and other partners in order to support the development of the world’s most sustainable food package, made solely from responsibly sourced renewable or recycled materials, fully recyclable and carbon neutral. To make this happen, this role is not only driving the innovation partnerships, but also the sustainability partnership with our existing suppliers. You will be leading and evolving one of the most advanced supplier sustainability initiatives: ‘Join us in protecting the planet’. This requires continuous benchmarking, setting ambitious targets in line with evolving standards and in partnership with our suppliers, and ensuring timely implementation of the respective interventions. This initiative together with our innovation pipeline are key focus areas for our customers and our leadership.
In this role, you will report to the Vice President Supplier Management Base Materials. The preferred location is Lund, Sweden. Modena, Italy or Lausanne, Switzerland can be an option. You will spend up to 25% of your time traveling to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
What you will do
Manage developmental supplier relationships in close collaboration with our Development & Engineering team delivering the mid- and long-term sustainability and circular economy innovation strategy
Drive supplier initiatives and collaborate with our Sustainability & Communications team to meet long term sustainability targets
Leading the development of innovation ecosystems and partnerships by implementing the right intellectual property ownership & licensing framework
Engaging with highly complex scenarios of technology scale-ups and providers to develop materials and supply chains of the future
Drive sourcing process for new materials and suppliers across categories, including scouting and on-boarding.
Drive innovation and sustainability agenda across material categories, while developing knowledge & understanding in the procurement team to enable the respective value creation discussions with our suppliers
Drive 50% carbon emission reduction with suppliers by 2030 and net zero by 2050 from cradle-to-gate
Process driver for implementation of certification systems to support deployment on sustainability credentials on packs/products for customers

We believe you have
As a person, you are passionate to learn and have a high level of commitment. You have demonstrated excellent communication skills and have a proven ability to manage internal and external relationships in a cooperative, diplomatic and successful manner. You have a strong drive for results with hands on experience of executing changes in a global environment. You have the ability to deal with ambiguity & continuous change in terms of work scope and challenges identified.
You possess a university background within business management, engineering or similar and have a minimum of 5-years’ experience working on innovation partnerships, fostering ecosystem thinking and sustainable supply chain setups.
You are passionate about sustainability and have demonstrated knowledge about related requirements, standards, regulations, and industry trends.
You have worked in an international and complex environment creating and negotiating development, licensing and intellectual property sharing agreements. A minimum of 5-10 years of proven experience within strategic sourcing / supplier management, including negotiations at executive level and 8-10 years in a leadership role in a global environment as well as excellent business acumen will be needed. Knowledge in the packaging industry is a plus.
A very good command of English, both written and oral is required.
