User experience in focus
At Volvo Cars, we aim to lead in the automotive world by making our customers' lives less complicated. We are moving towards becoming more of a software developing company and where our products give the driver´s a car-experience that improves every day. We focus our products to offer freedom to move in an environmental and sustainable way.
Volvo Cars has the ambition to sell 1,000,000 electrified cars by 2025, and with this ambitious goal set, we work intensely with development and validation of technical solutions in hybrid- and electric vehicles. Here is a chance to be part of that journey.

Who are we
A central part of an electric vehicle is its charging system, and what we call “the charging experience”. Charging is a big and complex area where technology is still being developed at a rapid pace and the customer impact is big. A large part of the work in our teams is focused on verifying adherence to market dependent communication protocols, which are of vital importance for charging to work at all. At the same time, we work with customer charging experience of the complete charging system and its functions, and to merge these aspects we need creative and highly skilled people.
We are a group of 20 members, divided into 3 teams working with analysis and validation of the charging communication, the on-board charger, and the DC/DC converters. The team composition is multi-cultural, and English is therefore more common than Swedish. The work environment is open and energetic, and we continuously strive for improvement and welcome new and creative ideas. The varying background and experience of the members contributes to a welcoming and respectful openness to all new members.

Who are we looking for
We are now looking for someone to join the team of tester working primarily with CCS, which is the standard used for EV charging in the US and EU. PLC communication according to HomePlug green PHY protocol is a close description of the Physical and Data link layers used in CCS communication, and we are looking for someone who understand what this means. We are looking for someone who enjoys and has the experience of working with computer ISO-OSI network architecture and the different communication protocols involved, and possibly even with experience of fault tracing in this area. This is perhaps a bit unusual for many network specialists, but this is sometimes required in the work at hand, debugging the communication with a charging station.

What you´ll do
The work will cover most aspects of testers and analysis of the charging system starting in reading standards and internal requirements and ending in vehicle validation of entire functions in the field. Collecting and analysing data from many sources in the vehicles is a major part of the work. System testing is done by both manual test methods and with automated tests, and we participate in all steps from writing and performing test methods. We work both in HIL simulators and in vehicles on test tracks and on expeditions.

Do you fit the profile?
You are familiar with measurement techniques used to analyse both analogue and digital systems. You have a fair understanding of ISO-OSI and the TCP-IP network architecture. In depth knowledge and experience with CCS charging standards like DIN 70121 and ISO 15118 is highly meritorious. In order to test whether charging functionality is conforming to CCS DC and AC system in the field you need to be well acquainted with tools such as Canalyzer, Wireshark and INCA. Your background includes experience of SW programming in C++ or Python as well as HIL testing and test automation. Since we work in vehicles, a driving license is required.
