Who are we
In our Export Controls Office, we bundle passion and all the core export controls competencies to ensure all worldwide Volvo Cars’ business activities are compliant with the applicable export controls regulations.
We are growing now and therefore looking for a new person responsible for ensuring export controls compliance in the EMEA region. The role will be based in Sweden and will report to Head of Global Export Controls.
What You’ll Do
As Export Controls Expert, your key responsibilities will be responsible for ensuring the export control compliance in all Volvo Cars business activities together with the rest of the Export Control team. You will become a part of a team with aspirations to make a global change.
Your focus will be on the EMEA region to enable business compliance with applicable trade sanctions and export control laws. Further, you will support the efforts to define and drive the vision for the further development of Internal Control Program and therefore work closely with the Export Controls team members, other internal groups and colleagues, suppliers, customers, authorities etc. to coordinate and ensure any export controls requirements and needs will be timely and accurately satisfied.
Key responsibilities will be to provide analysis of changes and supporting affected business units by interpreting and explaining export controls requirements and regulations. You will be responsible for the optimization and implementation of required verifications and analysis through proper procedures, guidelines and instructions and therefore you will be also an active participant in IT projects that implement tools to automate processes and improve compliance level within Volvo Cars.
To be successful in this role, you have:
• Min. 5 years of relevant experience in export controls and sanctions in an international environment with either an international operating company or an international law firm;
• Relevant experience in safeguarding compliance including translation of export control and sanctions legal requirements into business practice, conducting investigations, assessing risk and developing mitigation strategies, providing trainings, developing compliance programs as well as drafting policies and procedures;
• Knowledge of EU dual-use exports controls regulations, US Export Administration Regulations and sanctions related regulations;
• Fluent English language skills
• It would be also helpful if you have a technical knowledge of products, software and applied technologies in the automotive industry (autonomous driving, connected vehicles etc.).
As a person you have excellent communication and presentation skills (with the ability to convince and influence people). You are structured, open-minded person with a hands-on mentality. Last but not least you have high ethical standards and you have ability to prioritize needs.
