About the job
As our next Global Compliance Officer in SMR, you're joining a BA team of eight people, supported by a broader network of ethics and compliance professionals throughout the SMR business and Sandvik Group. Several of the BA team are based in Sweden, with others spread out globally. We’re a connected, hybrid team, powered by motivated, collaborative, supportive and values-driven professionals - it is important to us to find someone who shares that approach. A fundamental part of your job is linking compliance with our sustainability agenda and inspiring change in line with the Sandvik 2030 sustainability goals. You also support the digital shift within the ethics and compliance function to protect and strengthen SMR’s value for its employees, customers, suppliers, and communities.
You're a trusted value-add partner to the business, working to embed ethics and compliance as part of everyday culture and systems. You influence our frameworks' direction and provide global support in developing and driving the execution of the compliance program streams in line with our decentralized model. This covers the areas of Competition Law, Anti-bribery and Corruption, Trade Compliance, Data Privacy and our internal whistleblowing system "Speak-up". You need not be equally expert in all these areas but bring a strong core of expertise and process mindset in one or more of these fields to leverage into the broader suite of issues we deal with. You also have an eye to potential future developments within third-party management and increased ESG-related value chain scrutiny.
You collaborate with different stakeholder groups to be a responsible business enabler by upholding and developing our ethics and compliance policies, procedures, systems and controls. You support as necessary with risk assessments, training, ongoing monitoring, continuous improvements, and M&A divestiture and integration in the compliance context.
Acting as a value leader to safeguard Sandvik's core Fair Play ethos and Codes of Conduct more broadly, you contribute to developing a culture of compliance, setting an example for transparency, and promoting an environment in which speaking up is encouraged.
You oversee the Divisions and Sales Areas compliance program implementation through rolling out and supporting the use of tools and systems to create and uphold global consistency on ethics and compliance issues. You play an active role in maintaining a well-connected and functioning ethics and compliance community, supporting in providing regular updates to management teams, the compliance organization and others on implementation of the compliance program, including by reference to relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). You use data and analytics to provide insights to process owners and senior management, and you leverage new technology to enhance ways of working.
Aligned with strategic direction and Group Compliance initiatives, you support in identifying specific compliance priorities for BA SMR by planning and prioritizing activities based on risk within an annual cycle (e.g. development of an execution plan).
You truly know your business at process, system, and people level, and you go down to fundamental root causes when dealing with issues.
Your background and character
You have a legal, audit or financial background, or show a proven track record of strong work experience in ethics and compliance, where focus on values, subject area expertise, process and project management is important. Experience from working at a medium or large international corporation is beneficial, preferably from a decentralized and global organization. Being skilled in Power BI and similar, with familiarity developing system-based solutions, is also a plus (e.g. via improved information analysis, monitoring tools, database management, vizualisation). Acting independently, you quickly adapt to changing environments and show strong integrity. You think and act strategically at a consistently high level, and you’re confident in leading the way. As an effective communicator and trusted advisor, you create strong collaborations, showing confidence and staying true to your actions and decisions. This, combined with your business mindset and inspirational manner, truly positively impacts our organization.
SMR is an international player with a local presence in Sweden, and this calls for written and spoken fluency in English, preferably also Swedish, with other language skills a strong plus.
At Sandvik, we believe that diversity of experience, perspective and background leads to a successful business environment. Visit our website, LinkedIn or Facebook to get to know more about us.
