We are now looking for a Group Design Leader (GDL) to one of the agile teams within the engineering department Propulsion Energy Systems and the section and Traction Battery Hardware (ART). Together with the section Traction Battery Controls & Calibration we are responsible for design and delivery of the technical solution of Traction Battery systems for electrified vehicles. The ART covers the complete product development of mechanical, electrical and software.

What you’ll do
You will be leading the electrical design of the high voltage battery components such as battery disconnect unit (BDU), high current busbars and harnesses. The main task is to ensure delivery of both Build-To-Print and Full-Service Supplier components with regards to time, technology and cost requirements of the task area within a vehicle program.

Your work environment is in an agile team getting support from Product Owner, Scrum Master and design engineers. Part of your responsibility is to manage and drive suppliers with regards to planning and delivery as well as ensuring that the technical documentation (TCE, KDP, etc) is available at the right level and at the right time. You will have contact with CAE, manufacturing, testing facilities and other departments within Volvo Cars to agree of required action.

You will also:
* Follow up prototype car builds and manufacturing of prototypes
* Perform design reviews
* Ensure that verification activities are planned and performed according to the overall time plan


Do you fit the profile?
We think you have a bachelor’s degree, at least, within power electrics, electronics or that you have equivalent work experience. Knowledge within different vehicle electrical system and/or traction components is considered as extra valuable.

You have several years of experience from some of the areas below: 
* Task/design leader within vehicle development for the automotive industry.
* Electrical Hardware design; dimensioning components such as contactors, fuses, busbars and harnesses.
* Balancing and optimizing electrical design against attributes.


You have proven program manager skills with good leadership and coaching qualities. In this position, you will spend many hours in exciting discussions with different areas within Volvo Cars as well as suppliers. That’s why we believe that you have good communication skills and enjoys being in contact with a lot of people. There’s a lot to keep track of, which will be easy for you since you’re structured, organized and good with priorities. This also contributes to you having an overall picture of the team deliveries.
