We are looking for a leader to further develop our Central Public Relations Team to become a truly state of the art Communications Team.

What you will do
The Head of Central Public Relations will lead a team that that build relations with key stakeholders – focusing on editorial media and unpaid influencers – and tell the world about Volvo Cars, our innovative products and services as well as the purpose of our company and the values that drive us through the generation of targeted editorial media coverage. In our Central Public Relations Team the pace is high and we are in daily contact with media around the world as well as in our markets and regions. 

Together with your team, you will develop and implement a continuously evolving global PR strategy that proactively communicates the Volvo Cars story to relevant media, driving corporate and brand reputation and business growth. 

In this role you will build trust-based relationships with key media across relevant categories, globally. You will lead a network of international PR managers to amplify messages across all Volvo markets. On certain occasions you will act as a Volvo Cars Spokesperson to the global media, but the day-to-day responsibility lies with the members of your team.

You will recruit, lead and mentor top talent and empower the team to succeed through active listening, clear communication, role-modeling a collaborative culture and taking a personalized approach to development.

You will be an active contributor in the Communications Management team and other forums, including collaborating cross-functionally with other senior leaders within Marketing & Brand and other departments in the company.  

Who you are
We are looking for a progressive communicator and leader who is able to work across traditional, social and new media. The successful candidate will be driven and inherently curious in global developments, always eager to improve and demonstrate a creative approach to building the Volvo Cars brand outside the traditional automotive space. 

You are a hyper-collaborative leader with an eye for identifying and developing impactful news-based stories and creating multi-channel strategies to see them through to execution. You will need to react quickly to potential risks and find stories that protect, build and promote the corporate reputation. 

You are strategic and able to navigate into the unknown with a team which is transforming. 

Most of all, you are a “people person” who inspires and engages, and you are passionate about changing the future of Volvo Cars.

Qualifications:
•    10+ years of experience from corporate and consumer dimensions of PR/communications within lifestyle/fashion/luxury brands (or similar) at a global level
•    Ability to demonstrate performance of PR from a data-led perspective to ensure continued alignment with business goals 
•    Experience of directly managing high-performing teams
•    International media contacts from working with business, lifestyle, fashion or tech media
•    Experience of digital media as well as traditional media
•    Experience from major virtual events that deliver to business and brand objectives  
•    Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Marketing or Journalism or an equivalent experience
