We are seeking a highly motivated and business-savvy lawyer to join the Legal HQ team and serve as Head of Legal M&A. This position involves leading the global M&A legal function supporting on strategic corporate transactions, including acquisitions, JVs, venture capital and equity investments, from planning stages through and including integration support. Key responsibilities include:

* Providing best-in-class M&A legal advice in respect of various types of transactions across multiple jurisdictions (and often cross-border).
* Working to drive continuous improvements and operational excellence in deal processes and execution, capturing and reapplying knowledge.
* Engaging in the drafting, negotiating and reviewing of a wide variety of contracts, including investment agreements, shareholders agreements, collaboration agreements, share purchase agreements, and joint venture agreements.
* Adopting a collaborative business-partnering approach, working in close collaboration with group functions such as finance, digital, strategy, and the commercial and tech teams, in a cross-functional context.
* Proactively identifying relevant regulatory and legal developments, risks and opportunities. 
* Managing external legal counsel in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
* Providing training and legal awareness.
* Working collaboratively with, supporting and coaching colleagues at Legal HQ and in other regions, who work on transactional matters.


This position may also be called upon to handle other legal matters, on an as needed basis, as we believe in venturing out to continuously learn and evolve. You will report to our Head of Legal HQ and will work closely with our Deputy General Counsel and General Counsel.

The Right Stuff. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, collaborative, interested in technology, with high integrity and a pragmatic approach. We also want to work with talented people of diverse backgrounds and with different perspectives. Qualifications include: 

* 8+ years of experience as a lawyer, with a number of years’ experience from a law firm, bringing legal problem-solving to businesses.
* Substantial, relevant legal experience from a wide variety of international M&A projects, ideally involving tech companies in a cross-border context.
* Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail, without losing sight of the big picture. 
* A team player with ability to work independently and to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams.
* A proactive and customer-oriented mindset, with the ability to provide high-quality legal support with limited supervision and often under time pressure.
* Creativity in dealing with complex legal issues, and the ability to move projects forward by gaining needed support.
* Strong communication skills and are able to explain complex issues in a simple way to business partners and other stakeholders.
* Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
