The team
The Advanced Analytics & AI organization is brand new within Volvo Cars and tasked with identifying opportunities for the application of data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning throughout the company, and then acting on those opportunities. In addition, we develop and operate tools and processes to accelerate and support all teams using data science and machine learning at Volvo Cars.

We are now looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to join our team in Gothenburg.

You and your skills
We are looking for an experienced Machine Learning Engineer with a proven track record of implementing machine learning in production. We expect you to have Cloud Native experience and be comfortable designing and building complex distributed systems. We expect you to be comfortable with CI/CD and the machine learning life cycle. Furthermore, a clear understanding of commonly used models, mathematics, and statistics is expected. Experience in online machine learning is also beneficial.

Solid programming skills are required (Python, Cython) and you probably have a degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience. Strong collaboration and communication skills are important.

What you’ll do
As a Machine Learning Engineer, you’ll sit at the intersection between data science and software engineering. You’ll work in close collaboration with data scientists, data engineers, and backend developers on key machine learning deliveries, a robust and scalable machine learning life cycle.

You’ll be responsible for turning machine learning proof of concept models into production-grade systems. You will support and guide data science and machine learning efforts throughout the company and develop best practices for how to operationalize machine learning.

You are expected to design and develop internal tools and contribute to Open Source Software.
