Who are we
Climate system department is responsible for climate development within Volvo Car Group. The Department is part of Vehicle Platform unit within Volvo Car's R&D division. Climate Systems is owning most of the components connected to the climate function, and the SW-control of the same. We are in a challenging and exciting journey where climate is an important contributor to the electrification, energy efficiency and the digitalisation of the company.
What we offer
As a Principal Engineer in Energy Efficiency, you will be a part of the climate architecture team. This is a role where your leadership and collaboration skills are highly valued. You will have a broader approach and be responsible for developing the overall energy efficiency strategy.
You will contribute to the climate system development in all project phases. Together with the product development teams, Product Manager and System Architect you will prioritize and deliver the scope of the Architecture team.
Being a part of the Architecture team will also give you an opportunity to grow wider within your spectre of expertise.

What you will do
You will be the main technical competence within the area and daily work will include;
* Estimations of energy use and energy saving measures.
* Analysis of competitors and test data
* Support and represent Climate outside the departments and cross functional forums
* Explore innovation and advanced engineering to secure bandwidth and future architecture challenges.
* Lead the energy efficiency balancing, in the development of solutions, supporting Volvo Cars future business.
* Support developing teams in all development phases (Concept, Industrialization, and Maintenance) with technical competence.
* Participate and lead collaborations within and outside the department, as well as external partners and Universities.
* Educate people at Volvo Cars within the area of energy efficiency

Educational Background and Experience
We believe you have completed at least B.Sc. degree in engineering and have relevant work experience of minium 5 years . You need to be fluent in English and have a driving license “B”, valid in Sweden.
We will be looking for the following skills:
* Broad experience in thermal dynamics technology & control systems
* Deep knowledge in engineering physics
* Experience in vehicle HVAC-systems and heat pumps
* Experience of testing and simulations, verifying and analysing test results
* Creatively combines available information and knows how to make estimates.
* Eager to understand how our customers use and experience our products, to be able to satisfy their expectations
