We are looking for a highly motivated faculty member to join us at the division of Electric Power Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering. You will play an important role in contributing to the research and education in the area of future sustainable electric power systems, which is one of the strategic areas of the research at the division. Our vision is that the future energy system will be sustainable, and the electric power system will play a critical role in the realization of the 100% renewables-based society; the electric power system must not be a limiting factor for societal progress and must be available, secure and reliable at any place, at any scale, and at any time.

The aim with this position is to strengthen and expand the competence and knowledge in the area of environmentally friendly electric power systems, including the application of power electronics and new digitalization technologies. Your major responsibility is to strengthen and expand our research capability in the area of future power systems, based on 100% renewable energy sources. Your main research tasks will include initiating new strategical research directions, formulating projects and attracting funding, strengthening and expanding industrial and international collaboration, leading and supporting researchers and supervising doctoral students. The pedagogical tasks include teaching at graduate and undergraduate level and supervising bachelor and master thesis students.

Other important aspects of the position include providing information and communicating about research and current development in the subject area, and collaborating within academia and with society at large.

The division of Electric Power Engineering conducts research within a broad range of topics in electric power technology. Our purpose is to develop interdisciplinary research areas within the university as well as with external partners. Our research is based on a solid theoretical basis and extensive experimental verifications in our laboratories as well as in the field. Research activities at the division are organized within two research units: 1) Power Grids and Components and 2) Electrical Machines and Power Electronics.

Contract terms
Full-time permanent employment.

The position is within the research unit Power Grids and Components, which currently consists of 27 employees, among which are 10 PhD students, 3 postdocs and 14 senior researchers and engineers. The unit also hosts 4 part-time adjunct professors from industry. Our goal is to contribute to societal sustainability by developing innovative methods and technologies via high quality research in a learning-oriented, collaborative and interdisciplinary environment. Our mission is to generate key knowledge and competences and to develop solutions to enable fully sustainable, highly reliable, efficient and flexible electric power system based of renewable energy sources. Our research activities are currently focused on energy system management, operation and control of active grids; systems dynamics and power electronics integration; high voltage components and technology.
