Senior Software Engineer with focus on Optimization and AI

Engineering at Lifesize is an exciting journey at the edge of technology. We work in small, agile teams where each team has a clear mission and owns the technology that they are working on. As engineers, we make some of the most important decisions for the company's success and this creates an inspirational and challenging atmosphere.
In Östersund we are a small team working on next generation's workforce management module for Lifesize's contact center service. At the core of Workforce management is matching employers' needs and employees' requirements for work-life balance and we achieve that with a mix of AI, data science and some old-school hacking. Now we are looking to extend the team with one more developer.
What you'll be doing:
Work on our scheduling and optimization algorithm for generating the perfect schedule (if such a thing exists, we like to aim high)
Find ways of forecasting what the future will look like by applying data science on the past and present knowledge (we're not talking about lottery number unfortunately, we're only forecasting workloads)
Design and implement micro-services for the capabilities that we require.
Participate in code reviews and collaboration with the rest of the team.
Work closely with product management to make sure they understand what we can achieve (we have the best product management but some things need explaining).

What we think you have:
A master's degree, Ph.D. or similar in something where math plays a key role.
Experience from scientific computing.
A lot of familiarity with programming although you don't have to work as a professional programmer.
Curiosity and an open mind to try out new solutions to old problems.
The ability to combine creative thinking with delivering working products.

We work with the following technologies so of course it's a plus if you know them but if you don't, you'll learn:
Python (including the common libraries for scientific computing)
Postgres
AWS
RabbitMQ
Erlang/Elixir
