Volvo Cars and Geely Auto are combining their powertrain operations into a standalone business focused on next-generation hybrid systems and internal combustion engines.
To power the sustainable mobility of the future, a variety of energy sources will be needed. We plan to develop advanced, efficient powertrains for Volvo Cars, Geely Auto, Proton, Lotus, LEVC and Lynk & Co, as well as other OEMs. Our high-performance solutions are already trusted all over the world. Today we power hundreds of thousands of vehicles across the globe. With facilities in China and Sweden, we expect to employ more than 10,000 employees across Manufacturing, R&D, Engineering, IT and other support functions.
What’s in it for you?
Base Engine is part of ICE R&D responsible for the Propulsion unit deliveries. The Dressed Engine Section are around 50 people divided into four teams, Fuel & Ignition system, Intake & EGR, Engine Transmission and NVH/Thermal protection.
Fuel & Ignition System is a 13 member strong team with the main task to develop the high pressure fuel system, glow system and Ignition system for all internal combustion engines, current as well as future projects. This means, define system requirements, designing system/components and verifying both components and system.
Together with cross-functional teams within propulsion power systems, manufacturing, purchasing you will work with the latest technology in order to reach the future characteristics and requirements in a very exciting field.
As System Engineer (SA3) you are responsible to define and develop a balanced technical system solution which works together with adjoining system areas.
Your daily work will involve leading the FIE hardware team. You will also be a strong member of the cross-functional teams within Vehicle Propulsion Engineering working close with Propulsion Calibration and Control (PCC), Powertrain Installation (DLI) and the Propulsion Combustion teams. Including system-planning activities, technical support to component responsible and securing system quality over time. The role requires involvement in concept phase, through the sourcing process all the way to start of production.

* Chair and plan the SA-meetings
* Lead the FIE system team and secure delivery of agreed program content on time, at agreed cost and with high quality
* Optimizing and balancing of the requirement’s for system area
* Securing system quality and verification over time
* Report both in line organization and project organization

You and your skills
We believe you have technical education on University level (Master of Science or similar). Automotive experience and interest in automotive technology. You have at least three years of experience within automotive development, preferably within Vehicle Propulsion. Further, you:
* Are practical and theoretical knowledge about the Volvo product development process
* Have experience from requirement specification and product documentation
* Are fluent in English, spoken and written
* Have Driving license "B"
It is meritorious if you have technical knowledge/experience of the system area, have previous experience as a team/project leader, and INCA.
We are looking for a highly positive and open-minded person. You are proactive, have a drive to make things better and are flexible to the constant changes and agile environment. Further, you hold high level of communication skills and teamwork capability, due to cross-functional nature of the position.
Moreover, we think you are analytical, structured and organized, due to various documenting and planning working tasks. We believe you have deep technical understanding of powertrain and are very much interested in new automotive technology.
