System Programmers - Common Development

Job description We are looking to hire two system programmers to the Common Development team of our Product Development department. This group currently consists of 10 senior developers and architects responsible for core components, as well as technical and functional cross-asset class aspects, of our FRONT ARENA product for sales, trading and risk management. As a system programmer in this team you will be working with design, development, maintenance and internal support of the database, server and messaging components that constitute the core of our product. You will do so mainly in co-operation with senior team members, but you will also have independent tasks and will gradually be assuming individual responsibility. The development is mainly in C/C++ and we work in a multi-platform environment (Windows, Solaris, Linux). Qualifications We are looking for candidates who possess a solid academic background in software engineering, and who ideally already have some practical experience of system development. Applicants who have recently completed their academic studies will also be considered. Thoroughness and a willingness to learn are of great importance, as well as an ability to focus on quality and results. You need to be skilled in C/C++ and preferably also SQL, and be familiar with basic software development concepts like client/server, object oriented programming, etc. You should have some experience of either SQL Server, Sybase or Oracle. Experience from multi-platform development is a definite plus. We would particularly welcome candidates who have skills in, and an interest to learn more about, Unix. A basic understanding of financial products is helpful, but not a must.
